Climate Change is Altering Glacier’s Landscape

This July, we’re taking a Trailhead Tour throughout the state to highlight climate change impacts to public lands. We decided to kick off the tour in Glacier National Park this week for a good reason: climate change is threatening to destroy the park’s namesake.

This July, we’re taking a Trailhead Tour throughout the state to highlight climate change impacts to public lands. We decided to kick off the tour in Glacier National Park this week for a good reason: climate change is threatening to destroy the park’s namesake.

In 1850, the park had an estimated 150 glaciers within its present boundary. But today, only 25 glaciers remain. Scientists predict that climate change will cause all 25 to disappear by 2030, if not earlier. The following video discusses some of the ecosystem changes that are taking place: 

The EPA’s research and regulatory programs are our best line of defense against climate change, but Trump’s proposed budget threatens to cut these programs in half.
