What's New

Watching waterfowl and bald eagles from Wild Horse Island . . . Hiking through Glacier National Park . . . Fishing along the shores of the Missouri River . . . Montana is home to some of the world’s most stunning landscapes, lush wildlife and natural beauty.

Unfortunately, too many of our natural wonders have been lost to logging, mining, oil drilling and overdevelopment. That’s why we are working to protect Montana’s last pristine places, critical wildlife habitat and the laws protecting them.

Take Action

Tell Secretary Vilsack to "Keep It Going" in Protecting Our National Forests.

On May 28th, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack issued an order which requires his personal approval for any new logging, drilling or roadbuilding in nearly 50 million acres of our most pristine national forests. Thank Vilsack – but also ask him to keep it going and permanently protect our forests.

Brief Summary

From the towering mountains in Glacier Mountain National Park to the the shores of the Yellowstone River to the springs in the Gates of the Mountains Wilderness area, most Montanans have a vision of the treasured landscapes that make Montana special. They're the places we visit with our families or go for a hiking and canoeing adventure.

Even if you haven't visited all the parks, lakes and trails in the state, you know that Montana wouldn’t be the same without them. Environment Montana is standing up to the logging, mining and drilling industries so future generations can know these places, and the wildlife that inhabit them, as we do. We’re using in-depth research, advocacy at the state and federal levels and our history of grassroots organizing to preserve the places that make Montana beautiful.
